To call Paul Cauthen’s live performance memorable is an understatement. His voice and storytelling are not only hard to forget, but inspiring. First time experience, both at the Kessler Theater as well as watching Paul, and it could not have been better.
Starting with the theater’s atmosphere, which is very welcoming and warm. The space is beautiful, with wheelchair accommodations in place and a friendly staff that made sure everyone was comfortable and safe. The room allows the crowd to have such an intimate experience with the artist, with lights and sound right on point.

Now let’s talk about Cauthen’s performance, which was simply impeccable. His narrative, his sense of humor, and his stage presence are all so pleasantly entertaining that time just flies by. The interaction with passionate fans since the parking lot and lobby showcased the special type of attraction that he brings to the gig.
The show on July 2nd was the last one of a weekly Wednesday concert series at the Kessler Theater that started on June 11th. Fans bought tickets for a planned acoustic night, and were surprised by a last-minute full band announcement. Still, Paul made sure to begin the show with a few acoustic songs that delivered intimacy and emotion through the power of his unique voice and guitar playing, giving the crowd the best of both worlds.

The set list included his newer material as well as the older classics, such as “Prayed for Rain”, “Angels & Heathens”, and “Black on Black”. As he transitioned from his acoustic performance to full-band during his song “Slow Down” the energy in the room got cranked up to 10.
It truly felt like a gift to be present at the residency grand finale and to witness the hypnotic effect his music has on fans. It’s so much fun to watch him interact with the crowd as he navigates the stage with such confidence and a clever sense of humor, sparking laughter even when talking about his current health battle. It was moving.

If you’ve haven’t seen him live yet, you definitely should. His voice, vocals, and dance moves give a Johnny Cash meets Elvis vibe, but without missing one bit of originality. A must-watch for anyone who’s looking to experience a true raw, natural, and impactful music performance. Make sure to follow him on social media to see where you can catch him next.
Last but not least, the Kessler has plenty of other attractions lined up for fans of good music and art. You can check out their website and social media pages to stay up to date with all the fun.
